Such a romantic city, I'm sure. I live part of the time in Amsterdam, and it's an incredibly romantic spot with its canals and hidden corners. Must make it to the Amsterdam of the south one of these days. Just lovely 🌸
Amen to this post, and my favourite boat is the garbage boat too! I have fond memories of taking out the trash in full settecento costume during carnevale, and throwing the garbage bag down into that boat.
Wow-- what a beautiful post. It's so funny how one finds themselves taking the same pictures over and over. But there are so many scenes in this remarkable country that are so seductive, you can't help but try to capture them--even when you know that you already have 20 other versions of the same shot in your photo roll.
Such beautiful views, thank you for sharing them. I love your laundry line, on visits to Italian cities I have often longed to hang laundry from my window as so many do.
You’re welcome! Hanging your laundry from the window pulling on that long line is a challenge. Not dropping your cloths pins & getting things lined up is harder than it looks. I didn’t mind it in the summer when things dried super fast, but once the sun moved in late September it became a challenge to get things to dry at all. I bought a tumble dryer as soon as there was a place to put it 😂
Thank you so much for writing such great pieces. I love all your suggestions always. My favourite boat moment was on our last visit - 2022 - when we stayed in a cannareggio apartment with a garden courtyard. I looked out back to the canal and saw: a gardener’s boat! Heaped high with plants and clippings. Of course! 😍

Yes, come visit. Bring hagelslag 💗
Good heavens, I found myself eating it by the spoonful the other night during a chocolate crisis. So good. 😊
the rose colored lanterns make Venice all the more romantic!

That is a fabulous memory
Some of these Riva mahagony boats have Lamborghini engines. It doesn’t get much better than that
oh wow! i had no idea. I love the nonchalance of the drivers, usually on their phones, as they navigate past the palaces on the grand canal
Blase might be the word, but just ask them about the engine and you might have a friend for life (Italian) males and engines
Love this series! So fun to read and look at! 😎
I’m obsessed with lampposts, and particularly Venetian ones! Thank you so much for ‘enlightening’ me further 😀
Right?! SO pretty 💗

Literally thousands of that row of gondolas in front of the Doge's palace 🤦♀️ As my very patient husband says, the light is different every time!
Thank you for reading and for your kind and thoughtful comments.

Thank you for reintroducing the practicality to my romantic viewpoint!
