I am going to re-read all of this before our visit to Rome this summer! What is your thought about Esquilino as a neighborhood to live in, short term or long term?
I was just saying to my husband last week how much I would enjoy living in parts of Esquilino! I like the area near the park (Piazza Vittorio) and towards Celio the best.
That is so nice to hear! I am going to prowl around that area this summer to see if it could feel like home. Will re-enter Italy in Liguria for 3 weeks in Lerici and ultimately will find our way to Rome for maybe a couple weeks in July. I know—better book it now!
To add to a market (or Pantheon) itinerary - there’s the small, but very picturesque, market in Piazza delle Coppelle. At least I hope it’s still there!
I’ve only been to Rome twice and for just a few days at a time. Such a big, complex city requires more in depth appreciation. This is a great guide for when I go back! I feel like I have to move to Italy to have time for all the stuff I want to do!
Love the concept of market hopping! And Rome truly is the perfect place for it - thanks for sharing!
Love this! Reminds me of the Mortadella Focaccia sandwich recipe I adapted from L.A.-based Roman cuisine restaurant Mother Wolf for easy home cooking!

Fantastic itinerary! At FCO now after my first visit in nine years. Thank you!
Have a wonderful trip!!
Sigh. All so good. I can’t wait for November!
Can you feel the craziness of Jubilee even in neighborhoods like Testaccio?
Hopefully the crowds will stick to their Jubilee sites 🤞
Perfect itinerary!
🥰

Casa Manco is the best! I love to have some pizza there and then visit the Centrale Montemartini.
That is a perfect duo!
Was just thinking of you today as I was at the market in Trionfale and had to stop at Mosca!
Sigh. I would love a piece of pizza rossa please 🥰
Perfect timing as I head to Rome today.
yay yay yay!! Have the best time. I hope to see you here in Venice.
I’ll be in touch!
So much to love here, Gillian though we are horrified at the demise of the proper market we used to enjoy so much in Campo de Fiori
it's where we always stayed too. Gutted.
It is a tragic shadow of its former self. A sad reflection of how the neighborhood has changed.

That is the sweetest one! (and it has my dream apartment building too)

Thank you! You know what they say, una vita non é basta! I lived there and there are still so many things I want to see and do.
