Right now Noah and Dani are flying over the Alps on their way to us. One of my dearest pals from my Zimbabwe days is packing her suitcase in Camargue (hopefully with some salt for me) and will be here with us in Venice tomorrow. The next few weeks will be slow and full.
We will go to the beach and eat spaghetti alle vongole and nap under umbrellas and swim in the sea. We will have morning coffee and pre-dinner ice cold martinis (that are in the freezer, batch made already) or maybe ranch water made with bottled key lime juice (SO much easier than squeezing all those limes) and the extra fizzy water on our little terrace. We will take long walks after the sun sets when the city is dark and quiet and empty. We will close the shutters tight and turn on the AC, cover the floor with pillows and watch movies. We will hang more pictures and maybe even put up some wallpaper.1 There will definitely be lots of Biennale.
My Ferragosto wish for you is the same every year. I hope that you have some summer idleness in your week, even if it is not today.
