Monty Don's series are available on BBC I-player or Sounds in UK - can’t remember which, as they keep altering them! Also available on Amazon as Prime Video, (whatever that means,) hopefully accessible to those outside UK 🤞
Giardini della Marinaressa was right by my apartment and I loved strolling here. I just missed the Biennale and need to make it back for that experience. Such a good reminder with this post. Grazie.
Can I add the Campo San Pietro to the list? Located in front of the Church of San Pietro on the island of San Pietro di Castello, this small green area over looks the Canale di San Pietro with a view of the Arsenale. It's almost always deserted and has a few benches as well as shady trees.
Very very nice guide. I personally love spending time in the (tiny but cute) garden of Ca’ Nigra. It’s my home in Venice since years, I directly book here every time.

Thank you! It is available right now on Amazon Prime in the US. There needs to be a dedicated Monty Don channel. His programs are so relaxing.
Also as DVDs if people still using! 😉

Yes, come back!

A perfect Biennale tip!
Thanks! What’s the garden next to St. Marks called?
Giardini Reale (it is one of my favorite places!)
Ok, thanks.
I figured it out.
It only works through the app and not desktop.
I have to add the link on the app, then go back to desktop to make it smaller and keep writing.
All good😀
(🙄 hey Substack, it shouldn’t be so hard!!)
Beautiful guide.
I can't wait to go there one day.
I do have a question for you.
How did you add the thumbnail post link to your other article on Favorite gardens in Italy?
You copy the link you want in the body of the newsletter and it should just pop up as a thumbnail. (I think that's what I did 😉)
Love Sant'Elena! Have you eaten at Osteria da Pampo? We had an incredible meal there when we were in town for the Biennale.
I haven’t, but thanks for the tip!

Thank you! I want to go have a drink in that garden, it looks dreamy. It is on my summer to-do list.
Very nice guide, in Venice is difficult to find green areas where to rest a bit!
Thank you! That is exactly why I wrote this guide. 🪴
