I love a hotel bar. I love a hotel bar a little bit more when it is in the place where I live. It’s like going to a matinee or a long fancy lunch. It feels a tiny bit naughty. Part rebellious, part indulgence.
You have probably heard me say this before but let me reiterate. Venice is not a late night town. What I mean by that is it is hard to find anything open past 10 or 11pm. Even in the summer. 1 Our dingbat mayor keeps passing ordinanaces that businesses must be shut by 11pm in certain parts of town. Sometimes after dinner with pals you don’t quite want the evening to end. Hotel bars to the rescue! They are usually open until at least midnight.
