Mark and I spent the last week of March in Rome. While we were there the Hotel Brunelleschi invited1 me for dinner and to spend the night so on our way home to Venice I hopped off the train for a brief visit to Florence.
I only had time for a super short trip. I know I am always telling you to slow down and spend time in one place. I also know that sometimes that is not always possible. I arrived in Florence from Rome at 13:30 on Sunday and was back on the train to Venice on Monday afternoon at 14:30. I managed to go to one museum and one contemporary art show. I had one breakfast, one dinner, one lunch and one snack. I probably could have squeezed in another museum2, a lunch and/or an aperitivo. This is not an itinerary for a first time visit to Florence.
I added a few more places to the annotated private Florence list for paid subscribers.
